Thor’s Well, Yachats, Oregon
Yachats is one of those wonderful, undiscovered, out-of-the-way spots on the Oregon coast. Wild, rugged, and stunningly beautiful, this area is a photographers paradise (that is, if you can catch it between rain storms! Don't forget your rain gear and lots of layers!).
Thor’s Well is located just off the highway, a few miles south of Yachats, and is part of the Cape Perpetua area. This unique feature was rather exciting to capture. Having to keep my eye on the pounding waves to the right while getting the timing just perfect for the run off proved to be a challenge. It is nice when the moment comes together and all the elements cooperate.
If you visit the Cape Perpetua area, be sure take an extra hour or so to drive to the lookout at the top of the Cape – the expansive views are breathtaking!
